I’ve been quiet…

… Because… well things are just quiet.  No major break through and no major events.  I’ve been spending the gorgeous days with my family.  I don’t know if I’ve mentioned before that the game development is a dream.  I am chasing the dream, but I will not allow it to interfere with my life either.

Forgotten Update!

Despite the constant nagging from my phone’s calendar app about posting on Wednesday I still managed to forget to post.  Last week seemed as though it was the week from hell and I simply didn’t get around to it (and Yes that was a Diablo 3 pun).  With the release of Diablo 3 (my most favored franchise) I devoted large chunks of time to fighting off the hordes of zombies and demons.  I wasn’t really able to marathon the game like most of the people I know so I’m still dwindling in Act 2 on my main character, but I’m having a lot of fun.

The Shift…

In light of the recent information I have learned about how Adobe plans to take 9% from successful Flash Game developers I have made a decision and moved forward with a change of technology.  I’ve mentioned this a couple times and my Wednesday post has come late due to the changes in effect.

Numinis Online

Numinis Online by Keith Anderson — Kickstarter

Just letting this go by on my blog post again! This game has a ton of potential to be something unique to the world of Fantasy RPGs! I saw we do everything possible to help them reach their goal!

For a friend

I want to link to a friends kickstarter campaign.  His game Numinis Online looks to be a purely brutal fantasy release that could very well be a breath of fresh air that the Fantasy realm needs.  Lets give these guys the hand they are looking for and get them their goal of $42k by the end of the month.

A moment of silence

This week has been a difficult week for my family as we have lost a loved one.  I have not done much by way of development as I’m sure you can all understand.  I gave a post this week and I seriously can’t even remember what it was about!  I don’t want to leave my readers in the dark so I will share that I am making changes to my development model due to recently discovered news. (Oh yeah that’s what I wrote about!)

As my network grows!

I’ve met a few interesting people on my Google +  who have provided me with resources I normally wouldn’t discover on my own.  The information from these resources have me rethinking my business model of using Flash to develop free games with ad support.  Adobe has made some announcements that will be changing with Flash that I don’t exactly agree with.  Particularly the one that will take 9% of my profits if I generate over $50k a year.  While this most likely will not happen any time soon (if at all) for my games it is still a reason to consider other methods.

Windows 8 Day 2

Yesterday I mentioned (and posted from) a Windows 8 installation on a Dell D620 I had laying around.  I was missing out on some features due to the older hardware not having a lot of driver support in Windows 8.  I have since installed it on my HP Pavillion dv6 system and I am extremely impressed so far.  I have been navigating through forums and seeing the opinions of fellow power users and developers.  These forums are wreaking with nothing but rage.

From Windows 8

I’m doing this little snippet blog from inside of the WordPress Metro App in Windows 8 Consumer Preview.  The app has a long way to go, but if they move like they did with the Android app it will get there fast.

Funny story!

So I literally spent the last week attempting to publish a post on an off day for you guys.  The post was going to be an indie dev look at the industry and why we (indie dev’s) are shaping the future of the gaming world.  However, the post I was working on slowly went from an industry analysis to a rant and then into a design synopsis for a game engine.  Needless to say that post was copied out into MS Word and I am completing it as if it were a blog post since that was stimulating a game idea.
